Due to the likely impacts of this weekend’s winter weather event, all Coweta County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26.![]()
The National Weather Service currently has Coweta within a Winter Weather Advisory, with impacts to our county likely from precipitation and subfreezing temperatures Sunday into Monday. This produces a likelihood of freezing conditions on roadways and other hazards Monday morning.![]()
Also, in addition to ordering a statewide State of Emergency, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday ordering all non-emergency state employees in the north Georgia area to remain at home on Monday. The area for this order includes Coweta and adjacent counties.![]()
Because of this, all Coweta schools will be closed for students and employees on Monday, and all extracurricular activities scheduled for Monday will be cancelled and rescheduled.![]()
We will assess county conditions following Sunday night’s anticipated freeze, and communicate with parents Monday afternoon about resuming normal school operations on Tuesday, January 27.
